“Singapore is leveling up the bilateral relations with Turkey”

Singapore Turkey relations are enjoying high level delegation support from both sides. The high level traffic sparked by March 2012 visit by Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan to Singapore, and responded byDeputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Lee Yi Shyan’s visit to Turkey in May 2012 in conjunction with the opening of IE Singapore’s overseas centre in Istanbul. Subsequently the visit of then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Singapore in January 2014 opened up Free Trade Agreement talks between two countries.

Singapore is further heightening the relations with a high level of delegation including many ministers and The Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in mid-October to finalize the Free Trade Agreement negotiations which will make Singapore one of few comprehensive FTA partners of Turkey.

The business community will accompany the Singaporean delegation by organizing a business mission to Georgia and Turkey, visiting the cities of Tbilisi and Istanbul from 8 to 16 October 2014.
